A Primer on Body Cleansing Herbs

Herbology is coming back as a respected preventative approach and a sizeable variety of therapeutic herbs are finding their way into health food and grocery stores. Medicinal herbs are most often available in capsule form or in tinctures, which can be conveniently used anywhere with only a few squirts below the tongue.

Here are a grouping of herbs that are most important to a body detox plan.

Milk Thistle is a important antioxidant that nourishes the liver, boosts the flow of bile, and behaves as an overall tonic to a number of other organs. Milk thistle boosts the growth of new liver cells.

Burdock Root is a diuretic and tonic. Burdock root helps to remove impurities from the blood. It assists in reestablishing healthy liver, gallbladder and kidney function. Burdock also induces the immune system via its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Dandelion is a powerful liver tonic, a diuretic and a very efficient blood detoxifier. It reduces cholesterol and enhances the function of the kidneys, spleen, stomach and pancreas.

Yellow Dock Root is a blood cleanser and detoxifier. Yellow dock root ameliorates the colon and liver function. Yellow dock is also therapeutic for anemia, spleen and gall bladder.

Red Clover is a wonderful cleanser and bears anti-bacterial properties. Red clover is not only a blood detoxifier, it is also an appetite suppressant, and a relaxant.

Echinacea benefits the immune system by destroying viruses, bacteria and other infectious microbes. Echinacea is also famous for detoxifying the lymph system.

You can look for mixes of these detox herbs. You will find that there are many good blends of detox herb blends and tonics available these days. If you use the herbs separately, make sure not to consume too much at one time. These detox herbs can be very potent, and the goal of detoxing the body is to give it relaxation and rejuvenation. This is why a natural, safe detoxification program is primary. In our attempt to purify our body, we must be careful that we hurt ourselves. This will protect the well-being of the body and subdue the side effects that a detox program can create.
