Golfing Holidays in Scotland

Posted by admin in Sports Parlor

For anyone who has ever teed up a golf ball and smacked it down the center of the fairway, a golf holiday to the land where golf was invented, Scotland, is a dream come true. I am one of these people lucky enough to have taken a golf holiday to Scotland for a round at the ancient St. Andrews golf course. My trip occurred in the early ninety’s, before the explosion in golf’s popularity that accompanied the arrival of Tiger Woods. We were able to book starting times and caddies the day before we played for the best time of the day. We never saw another group on the course. Despite playing poorly, I was able to hit several good shots, make a few pars and even a birdie on number fifteen. This was, without a doubt, hitting the jackpot regarding a golf holiday in Scotland.

There are several other attractions to see while on a golf holiday in Scotland. The graves of Tom Morris Sr. and Tom Morris, Jr. are located within the ruins of an ancient church in St. Andrews. These men lived in the eighteen hundreds and are considered the forefathers of the modern game. I enjoyed exploring the church ruins that are situated on a cliff overlooking the North Sea. My golf holiday in Scotland is truly one that I will never forget.
