About Baby’s Separation Anxiety

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

How do I feel about my child’s separation anxiety? Honestly, it’s absolutely one of the most delightful feelings I really enjoy as a mom.

I remember when my son was between 8-9 months old. Just like every mother, I couldn’t forget those moments.

At that time, he often asked for more attention from me rather than from anybody in the house. No matter where he was or who was holding him, as soon as he saw me, he suddenly cried as if he was asking me to hold him.

When I came close to him, he abruptly opened his arms and looked so happy. His cry stopped in a moment. It was truly an unspoken feeling I had experienced.

But there was also time when he acted differently from what I had expected. When I went for work, I thought he would cry hard to see me leaving him. I hugged him tight and kissed his face again and again.

I told him, “Baby, Mommy have to go to work now. Eat and drink a lot, okay? And have a good nap. I’ll be back. Love you much. Bubye.”

Sometimes he kept looking at me when I said so. I expected him to start weeping. But it didn’t happen. I wondered why. I found out later that he was interested with the wheels of the car I traveled in everyday.

Whenever the car started to run, my son always kept his eyes on the wheels. Looking at them spinning must have been very exciting to him. I just smiled, though my heart broke a little. I soothed myself by thinking that it was good for him being curious of strange things.

My son is a baby who has sleeping problem. Throughout the night during his sleep, he often woke up several times. If he woke up and didn’t find me nearby, he would cry out loud, making the whole house panic as if something really bad happen.

When I got into the bedroom, he would crawl toward me, and then I hugged him. He’d be calm afterward. Breastfeeding really worked to put him back to sleep.

Thank God I decided to breastfeed him so that I wouldn’t be engaged with the rush of preparing formula during the night. Yes, I chose to breastfeed him in nighttimes, even though he still got formula in day times.

Maybe this breastfeeding activity had created the bond between us. I enjoyed it, and still until now. This might also what made my son didn’t want to stay away from me.

If your baby or child has the same characteristic as my son has, I’m sure you have the same feeling as I do. If you think that your baby’s cry (for being away from you) annoy you, just remember that it won’t last forever.

Separation anxiety is a phase in your child’s development during his early years of life. Almost all children go through this experience. What I can suggest you is just enjoy these intimate moments before they’re gone along with your child’s growth.

From what I’ve heard from my friends about this, you’re gonna miss the moments. To me, even now, I really don’t want the phase fade away.

Wait, wait. There’s one more thing I’d like to share with you, which you may not think will make your child comfortable. I remember my friend told me that if you’re going somewhere, don’t forget to tell your child that you’ll be back. Instead of sneaking out of the house, waving your hand and saying that you’ll be back will soothe him somehow.

The Hidden Dangers of Adware

Posted by admin in Hall Of Security

Adware in the purest sense of the word is not a dangerous thing, designed only to display targeted advertising to you while browsing the internet. It was originally developed by marketers to be non intrusive and use very little system resources. You can easily recognize adware by the display of pop up advertisements on your computer screen, often appearing when you perform searches or land on different websites.

Adware can be very annoying, and in the past few years much of adware’s functional characteristics have begun to resemble spyware. A large percentage of adware today includes code that tells the advertiser something about you. It often relays information about which sites you visit on the internet, how much time you spend on each site, and what type of content you viewed. Although marketing people consider this information to be harmless to you, most users consider this type of data gathering to be an invasion of privacy. Adware that is delivered in the form of email often tells marketers when you opened the mail, how long you looked at it, and what you did with it.

Spyware is similar to adware, but much more dangerous. Instead of transmitting information about your web behavior to marketers, spyware is designed to steal confidential information such as account numbers, names, addresses, etc… As adware continues to evolve into a more sophisticated marketing tool, much of it is now capable of gathering “non-marketing” information that is more sensitive in nature. This new type of hybrid adware is sometimes referred to as “adware-spyware”.

Adware is normally included in downloaded software known as “freeware”. In exchange for using free software, you agree to the installation of adware. Most free software includes a statement about the included adware in a license agreement that usually goes unread. Other adware comes in the form of email, with code hidden in embedded graphics or even in the HTML code. If you forward an adware email to someone, they can get it too. Like spyware, adware installs very quickly, often without the users knowledge. Adware is not a virus, so antivirus software will never detect it.

If your computer is suddenly running very slowly, is plagued with pop-up ads, or if your browser home page has changed, chances are you have adware on your computer. If you have adware you probably have spyware too, as they both tend to go hand in hand.

Adware and spyware can sometimes be difficult to remove, and it’s best to use adware removal software. Because the two are so closely related, most good spyware removers will find and kill adware too. Since new adware and spyware is introduced into the internet every day, you may have to try several adware removers before you find one that will detect and destroy all the adware on your computer. Many free adware removers are available, but it’s best to get a paid version of this software that will protect you from future problems.

Due to the danger and prevalence of adware and spyware on the internet today, it is now considered a standard practice to use anti-spyware/anti-adware software. For the best anti-adware software, consider McAfee AntiSpyware, Spyware Doctor, Sunbelt Counter Spy, Adaware, Webroot Spy Sweeper, or eTrust Pest Patrol.

Cloth Diapers

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

There are a wide variety of diapers available. However, although there are a variety, they can be categorized into two basic types — disposable and cloth diapers.

Parents opt for cloth diapers primarily to cut down on costs. Bringing up a baby can be a financially draining affair for many average American parents. Cotton diapers are less expensive, because they can be reused. They are usually manufactured to sustain heavy washing and are thought to be a bit better for a newborn’s tender skin. However, using cloth diapers may prove to be extremely time consuming. There is the wonderful choice of opting for diaper services that are widely available across the USA. These services clean used diapers and deliver them. Thus, a lot of time, that would have otherwise gone into diaper-cleaning may be used for better purposes.

Disposable diapers usually cause diaper rash more easily than cotton. Parents wanting to avoid rashes often use cloth diapers that are considered more hygienic for the baby’s skin. However, quite a few disposable diaper manufacturers provide dry cover sheets on their diapers that keep the skin dry and protect from diaper rash.

Parents are becoming increasingly conscious of the environment these days, and for this reason, choose to use cloth diapers. It has been said that disposable diapers take up a lot of space in a world that is desperately short of it. Disposable diapers may even become a severe air pollutant if not disposed off properly. Disposable diaper manufacturers refute this claiming that disposable diapers are far more convenient than cloth ones and are no environmental threat at all.

Cloth diapers are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. These days one may come across pre-folded ones(extra thick in order to provide the maximum possible saturation), flat cloth diapers(less expensive and dry quickly), contour- shaped diapers(very user friendly and custom made), all-in one diapers(as good as disposable ones with Velcro fasteners) and a host of others. Traditional cloth diapers require diaper pins for fastening(never use over-sized pins as they may harm the baby).

Cleaning cloth diapers is a very important matter because it is detrimental to the baby’s health and to the durability of the diapers. Some prefer soaking the diapers overnight in water and baking soda or vinegar to remove odor. Washing may be done without soaking but should always be done separate from other laundry. A mild detergent should always be used, and washing should be in hot and cold water alternatively. While soaking, some prefer using antiseptics and anti- bacterial solutions to make the process more hygienic. Even if parents are looking for lesser expense, hygiene and health should never be compromised. Drying should also be done with utmost care. If using a machine dryer, maximum heat should be used. Drying diapers in the sun is also a very good idea, since sunrays are traditionally known to kill germs. Bleaching should be avoided under all circumstances, since it spoils the diaper and may also affect the baby. While traveling, cloth diapers should be carried in separate airtight bags that can also be used for soiled diapers.

Whatever the case, the primary concern for parents should always be the health of their child. Purchasing the right diaper should ideally depend on the comfort of the baby and not on the spending habits of the parents.

Save Money On Your Baby Stuff

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

Did your pregnancy or your baby come at the worst possible time as far as finances are concerned? Are you feeling upset because you don’t know how you will be able to give the baby what you want and what it needs? Believe it or not but a lot of people find themselves in the same situation asking the same question when realizing a baby is on the way. It almost seem like most babies announce their arrival on the worst possible times in peoples lives.

Naturally this does not mean that you will love or welcome them any less but it can sure make it depressing knowing that you can’t afford to give them everything that you may have dreamt of having when your baby enters this world. This is understandable as preparing for a baby can be fore some like preparing for a wedding where everything has to be perfect.

Fortunately having things ready for a baby is not quite as expensive as most weddings but can still end up costing a pretty penny if nothing but the best is good enough for you and your baby. Well if your financial situation at this present time does not allow you to get all the best you might realize that you need to lower your standards a little when it comes to the things you have to buy for your baby. This does not mean that everything can’t be just as nice, just a bit cheaper.

Those of you out there who always work on a budget and have children, you know that most baby/infant stuff out there can be bought just as nice used, as it has never been worn or used by anyone. For some of you out there it can be very degrading to go out and purchase something that has been owned by somebody else but in all honesty, who will even know, unless you tell? This is how nice most of the used baby stuff out there is, you can not tell it has been used. After all when a baby is just born they don’t use anything for too long before they outgrow it.

By going out and getting your baby used stuff while they are infants, you can actually save up quite a bit of money which you can invest in new things for your child when he or she will be able to keep things a little longer before they outgrow it. Another good thing with many used stores for babies is that you can actually take and trade in the stuff as your baby outgrows it. This you can not do with what you buy in the regular stores so as you can tell, by getting your stuff used you may save a lot of money.

Parents, if you find yourself in the situation where you can’t afford to buy your baby everything you had hoped for; there is no shame in buying used. In all reality it is actually very smart and economical and as long as you do not tell, nobody will probably not even notice. If you do by chance decide to tell, you might find that most your friends will be in awe by all the nice stuff you have gotten for the fraction of the price they might have paid for their stuff.

Screamin’ Demon

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

That child of mine is turning into demon baby bit by bit everyday. Recently she has reverted back to her newborn self and doesn’t want to sleep through the night. First of all the child has never ever liked to go to bed. Ever. As a three month old she would stay awake all night, not crying, just laughing, playing, hanging out while I quietly prayed to God asking him what did I do to deserve the non-sleeping baby. I’ve pulled many a twenty-four hour night because she wouldn’t sleep and refused to lay down.

So, last night she wakes up around four in the morning and starts a hollering. I go and get her, thinking that if I lay her down with me she’ll go to sleep and then I can put her back in bed. No. Little Ms. Insomniac wants to play. So I let her no that that’s not an option and put her little butt back to bed. Of course that doesn’t go over well and she starts screaming bloody murder. I mean you’d think I was beating the child senseless.

Well this screaming match wakes my mother up and she just knows I’m abusing the baby or something. I say no, Little Ms. Insomniac just doesn’t want to go to bed. She insists that I stop her from hollering since she knows someone is going to call the cops since it sounds like I’m killing the baby. I politely remind her that said baby only cries like that ’cause grandma would go and pick her up when she cried saying, “Oh that baby isn’t sleepy. That’s not right to make her cry. Go and pick her up.” So grandma would go and pick the baby up…creating our current little monster.

Well of course mom doesn’t like that bit of information so she promptly marches in the room to tell little baby to “Hush right now. Stop all that screaming and go to bed.” Of course my little angel starts to scream more. So I relent. Go and pick her up and once again lay her down with me. Except my little munchkin decides that she wants to get up and walk around. This ticks grandma off who insists, “Oh no. She will not walk around. You’re going to bed little girl.” So she grabs her grandbaby and puts her to bed, closes the door and lets her precious grandbaby cry herself to sleep. At which point she refers to her as the Screamin’ Demon. Of course if she would have just let her do that in the beginning we wouldn’t have had all that drama and I would have been able to actually get some sleep.

Choosing the Right Baby Name!

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

There are many things you have to do once you find out you are having a baby. One of those things is choosing a name for your baby. Some people know right away what they will name their baby, others struggle until the last minute to find a name. The last thing you want is to rush in choosing your baby’s name and regret the decision later on. For children their name is a very important factor on how they are treated at school. How many times have you know a child be bullied for their name? Or found out one of your friend’s uses their middle name because they hate their first name? A badly chosen name can lead to years of grief for a child.

There are some basic rules that you should follow when choosing a name.

1. Don’t feel the need to choose a very unique name, such as made up ones. Many people are tempted to do this as they feel it will make the child stand out from the crowd and make them feel special. However it can often be frustrating for a child when people are unable to pronounce their name. Or even worse if fellow class mates find the name funny and decide to make fun of it.

2. If you want to use an unusual name for your child balance it out with a normal name. So you would either have a unique name for the first name and a normal name for a middle name, or vice versa. This then let the child chose which name they prefer to use, they may love having a unique name to stand out from the crowd, or they can use a normal name if they are a little shyer.

3. Check the initials of the names you chose, if it spells out anything especially funny words (to children) then you can guarantee children will pick up on it and use it as a nickname for your child.

4. Find out the nicknames of the chosen name, often a nickname is far less preferable to the original name, and people will frequently use a shortened name over the original name.

Your simple guide to choosing a baby name was written by James Smythe. Once you have chosen you baby name don’t forget you need to have all the accessories for your new born, Get and prams or push airs from Quality Prams

Why Are We ‘Left’ Or ‘Right-Handed’?

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

1. THUMB SUCKING

Scientists at the Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, who studied ultrasound scans of 1,000 fetuses and traced the progress of some of these babies after birth, found that if a fetus preferred to suck its right thumb more than its left at around 10 to 12 weeks within the womb, the child will likely be right-handed after birth.

Moreover, they also discovered that the preference to move one hand over the other in the womb was associated with the handedness after birth.

Since the nervous system links to the body from the brain will begin to develop about 20 weeks of gestation, it does not appear that the brain controls the choice of handedness at this early fetal age. Instead, it could be a local reflex arc involving the spinal cord.

2. HAIR

If it swirls clockwise (right to left) then 95%, then most likely the person is right-handed.

Researchers from the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, Maryland have determined that a single gene might control both hair swirl direction and handedness and therefore, that could explain why our brains are asymmetrical.

Those who have one or two copies of the “right” version of the gene would be right-handed and have hair that swirls clockwise. Those who have two “random” versions of the gene could be either right- or left-handed and have hair that swirls in either direction.

However, other scientists are unsure if a single, many genes or “random” genes determine right or left handedness because two left-handed parents can have a right-handed offspring or identical twins do not have the same handedness, one could be right-handed while the other is left-handed.

The Golden Girls (Season 2) DVD Review

Posted by admin in School of Movies

Making its debut in the fall of 1985, The Golden Girls quickly established itself as a fixture of Saturday night prime time television. Following the lives of four older women living together as roommates in Miami, the show displayed a raw wit and a biting humor. The women live in the house of Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan), a Southern belle who loves men of every kind and has dated every eligible bachelor in the Miami area. Her roommates are former high school teacher Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur) and St. Olaff housewife and widower Rose Nylund (Betty White). Rose loves to tell stories about her former hometown, much to the chagrin of the other girls. The three are joined by Dorothy’s mother, firebrand Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty), a spunky Italian immigrant who always speaks her mind. In her early-eighties, Sophia may walk at a measured pace, but the velocity of her sarcasm only increases with age.

The Golden Girls (Season 2) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “End of the Curse” in which Blanche comes to the conclusion that she’s pregnant when, in reality, she’s beginning menopause. The revelation throws her into a deep depression… The season premiere is followed by “Ladies of the Evening” in which the girls have tickets to the opening of a new Burt Reynolds movie (tickets that entitle them to meet the famous actor), but while waiting in a hotel lounge for the show to begin, they’re caught in a police raid and arrested for prostitution… Other notable episodes include Rose dating a man named Isaac Newton, the girls taking care of an abandoned baby, and an aborted attempt (the season finale) to establish the cast of the later spin-off show Empty Nest…
